MetaPractice 1.1.0 released

Metapractice video tutorials

Just released! MetaPractice 1.1.0 includes all of the following new features:

Import and export Templates (or as some think of them, “Assignments”) using tab-delimited text (.txt) files, allowing teachers to quickly construct assignment templates and share them with other teachers.

  • In the Templates area, use the ADD button to download a sample template (MP-sample.txt) to your device. Read through that file to see how it’s done (it’s easy!). Try importing the file you just downloaded as a Template if you’d like. Then go to town editing a template of your own! You can easily and quickly create tens or hundreds of templates within a single .txt file, especially if you’re quick with copying and pasting!
  • You will quickly discover that creating MetaPractice templates is very natural, just like writing notes for a student to follow in their practicing. It is more natural AND more powerful than assignments created with clunky Excel spreadsheets!

Dramatically improved practice interface for students (teachers can Simulate Practice within the teacher app)

  • The new look allows students to see the same category/subcategory/goal structure that you see. Plus, in Beginner and Skilled mode (when students cannot see the entire goalbook all at once), there is animation that helps to reinforce this structure to students. Once completed, goals and subcategories animate upward; categories animate to the side. Students of all levels love it!

Print out any page of a student’s goalbook for students who want printed goals each week.

  • You can now use MetaPractice with ALL of your students, even those who don’t have access to a device when practicing! After you complete a lesson, simply view the student’s goalbook, and the print option is above. This will also help teachers who are eagerly awaiting the web version of MetaPractice to be released (the NEXT version!).

Students screen:  toggle between Card view and new List view

  • The card view looks pretty, but some such as myself find a list view to be easier to use. (Note: we will be shrinking the size of list view down eventually so that more students fit on the screen in list view.)

Improvement to media library interface (“Add” button has more intuitive options)

New notification area to show events such as student connection and disconnection
