Official release: MetaPractice for web no longer in beta version! This will allow users to use MetaPractice with their PCs, Macs and even iPads (using their iPad browser) or Android (again using the Android device’s browser)
Improved student connection: a teacher will be able to add new students before students have created accounts yet. Teachers and students will also be able to connect via QR codes.
Minor improvements/tweaks to Repertoire List (sorting and interface), password reset, template interface, login/sign up experience, goal sorting (media appears first), succinct infographics to help new users
Dramatically improved practice interface for students (teachers can Simulate Practice within the teacher app)
Import and export templates using tab-delimited text (.txt) files, allowing teachers to quickly construct assignment templates and share them with other teachers.
Download a sample template that demonstrates by example how easy it is to build a template.
Templates UI now has the same folder/subfolder system used with the media library.
Print out any page of a student’s goalbook for students who want printed goals each week.
Students screen: toggle between Card view and new List view
Improvement to media library interface (“Add” button has more intuitive options)
New notification area to show events such as student connection and disconnection
Improved media interface – got rid of Audio/Video/Image/PDF pop-up options when tapping on bottom Media button – now Media button just takes the teacher directly to the library.
Tapping on the media file you want adds the file to the goalbook (previously, tapping on a media file just displayed the file and you had to use its overflow options to add it to the goalbook).
Attach media files to categories and subcategories too (not just to goals) by tapping on overflow options of those categories and subcategories.
Notes can now also be attached to categories and subcategories, not just goals.
Support for M4A audio in media library
Show/Hide advanced goal options for teachers who just want to use MetaPractice’s most basic assignment features so that MetaPractice’s robust, powerful awesomeness doesn’t intimidate some first-time users
Removed small print goal evaluation numbers in the upper left corner of category and subcategory headings (these were confusing and never used – they used to count how many goals below hadn’t been evaluated yet).
“Add Subcategory” button is now indented to make intended structure more clear.
Collapsed categories arrow now points up instead of left.
Teachers can bring up an event and display a report that shows all pieces being played in the event, a super useful tool for typing recital programs
There is now a Notifications area in the upper left corner
Bug fixes: Multiple file upload timeout, elapsed time since last practice was displaying time since last lesson instead, sorting goals in reverse order sometimes did not work
Repertoire list pieces can now be sorted by date, display format of dates changed
Startup tips can now be disabled in Settings
Fixed bugs: Phone ringer off prevented audio from playing, couldn’t reposition audio playback while paused, couldn’t drag and drop subcategory into a category with existing entries, 26 other minor cosmetic and functional fixes
Teachers can add an event (class, recital, festival, competition, etc.) and specify which students will be participating in it. The event will show up automatically in students’ practice routine. Pieces (with their assigned goals) can be dragged into the event so that students know what pieces (and in what order) they’ll be playing in the event.
Disable startup tips option added
Repertoire pieces are now sorted by completion date, dates are now shown as YYYY-MM
Goal options (spot, spread, etc.) now wrap instead of requiring horizontal scrolling
QUICK CREATE GOALS! Long-tap on the “Add Goal” button to bring up a customizable list of commonly added goals. Default goals are begin, do, finish, maintain, memorize, number measures, and secure. “Do” and “number measures” are automatically designated Once goals.
Ability to upload multiple files at once into the media library
Goal, subcategory and category inputs are now multiple-line inputs instead of single-line input.
Ability to save photos/videos onto the device from the chat interface
Media is now auto-deleted from the chat interface after 30 days
Improved Name / Profile / Avatar settings interface
When adding notes and/or media to the lesson, auto-scroll effect added so the user is taken to the bottom of the goalbook to see where the new item was added
Bug fix: “Note to student” / “Note to self” labels weren’t updating after notes were edited
Bug fix: multiple tooltips were displaying at once.
Improved email communication with new subscribers
Other minor cosmetic tweaks, back-end maintenance and edge case bug fixes
Official release: MetaPractice for web no longer in beta version! This will allow users to use MetaPractice with their PCs, Macs and even iPads (using their iPad browser) or Android (again using the Android device’s browser)
Improved student connection: a teacher will be able to add new students before students have created accounts yet. Teachers and students will also be able to connect via QR codes.
Minor improvements/tweaks to Repertoire List (sorting and interface), password reset, template interface, login/sign up experience, goal sorting (media appears first), succinct infographics to help new users
SIGNIFICANTLY improved practice interface that includes animations, shows the student the same goalbook structure that the teacher sees, decreases the number of taps required to go from one goal to the next, and is more compact (a lot less scrolling in Advanced mode)
New notification area to show events such as student connection and disconnection
When a teacher creates an event and indicates which students are participating in that event and which pieces the students are playing, students will see a special screen during their practice routine indicating which pieces will be played in that event.
Times practiced, minutes practiced, and hours since last practice stats are now always available for the student to see on their teacher card
Multiple students in the same household can now use the same device with minimal effort to log out and log back in (uses iOS feature to store and enter passwords within MetaPractice)
Ability to save photos/videos onto the device from the chat interface
Improved Name / Profile / Avatar settings interface
Media is now auto-deleted from the chat interface after 30 days
Bug fix: When students are away for 500 or 1000 minutes and comes back to MetaPractice, MetaPractice asks the student if they would like to discard those minutes. When the student chooses “discard,” MetaPractice wasn’t discarding the minutes.
Other minor cosmetic tweaks and edge case bug fixes
Improved Help pages with YouTube videos, added communication mechanism so that we can convey very important updates to teachers and/or students upon launching the app, added ability for students to add, edit or delete repertoire pieces if the teacher enables it in Repertoire List settings.
